Description
Electric percussion kit wich has autorhythm is the analog experimental
model that was created & applied in industry by Riga musical Instruments
factory (RMIF) in 1991. A group of radio engineers of "Kommutator" factory created this instrument
under the leadership of designer & musician- Aivar Krievic.
The model ES-2-5 was the next step of development after 8-channels drum module
"Elsita."
"ES" means "Electric percussion" or in Lettish "Electro Sitamaijs", "2"-the second
instrument in series & "5"-five channels of sound formation.
It resembles "Roland TR-808" outwardly, because it was made on the basis of
that well-known Instrument. The instument has 24 bar sequencer & it can be programmed step by step.
There are also 16 programmed patterns (each of them has 24 steps)
A user has the possibility to play patterns by the use of manual & automatic
mode (when every next pattern goes after a previous one from 1 to 16)
The programmed patterns may be saved in memory of the instrument.
There are 5 inputs for pads & 2 outputs (line, phone) in the instrument.
There is also the possibility to connect a pedal to" Rmif ES 2-5"(start/stop).
Unfortunately the element base left much to be desired & the instrument didn`t
manage to stand a lot of tests. It contained five pads & a special drum pedal.
However, "Es 2-5" played sound of bad quality & worked thoroughly bad.
As a result it was shelved by the factory, that produced about 30 models of
this instrument. It has never been on sale in Russia.
